How does

Yotascale

compare?

Yotascale provides a fairly strong set of cost visibility tools that can empower your engineers to take action. However, Yotascale falls short on providing any automated features that allow you to maximize your cloud savings that can be found in Harness Cloud Cost Management.

Detailed feature comparison

Summary:

Yotascale provides a set of visibility, savings, and forecast tools for AWS and Azure that provides insights that engineering teams can consume in order to avoid bill shock and make real-time decisions on cloud costs. However, Yotascale falls short on cost savings automation and orchestration, which is where true cost savings can be found. They also lack support for full multi-cloud visibility, which is vital in today’s multi-cloud world.

If you’re looking for rich multi-cloud and container cost visibility, automated cost savings tools, and innovative features to proactively design cost savings into the development pipeline, then Harness is the clear winner. Harness knows your engineers want to focus on creating great software, not chasing down cloud costs, and we’ve created cost savings opportunities that simply can’t be found by manual efforts.

Kubernetes Cost Management:

Cloud-native architectures rely on Kubernetes clusters to give applications flexibility and scalability in the cloud. As a shared resource, granular cost visibility is a critical feature that both Harness and Yotascale offer down to the node, namespace, and label level – but that’s where Yotascale’s support for Kubernetes clusters ends. Yotascale can’t provide savings recommendations for cluster resources, only the cloud infrastructure underneath. It’s not enough to just show you where savings are. Today’s engineering teams want to streamline and automate their applications wherever possible.

Automation is where Harness shines. Harness not only provides great visibility into cluster costs, but we have innovative features like Cluster Orchestrator that help you automate your Kubernetes cluster management. When deployed with Spot Orchestration, you can save up to 90% on cluster costs.

Spot Orchestration:

Spot instances provide massive savings opportunities over on-demand or reserved instances across all cloud providers. However, to fully realize these savings, you need proactive automation that responds to spot instance interruptions, using the APIs and best practices from the cloud provider themselves. Harness Spot Orchestration closes the gap in spot availability guarantees, allowing you to implement spot instances across a larger portion of your infrastructure, saving up to 90%.

Yotascale does not provide any automation or orchestration capabilities.

Idle Resource Management:

One of the biggest sources of cloud waste is idle cloud resources, especially in test/dev environments. Your engineering teams don’t work 24x7, so why would you want their cloud instances to?
Harness Cloud Autostopping automatically halts idle cloud resources when they aren’t in use, and brings them back up again once an application or engineer accesses them. Harness customers save more than 70% on the cloud costs with Cloud Autostopping.

Yotascale does not have any ability to manage cloud resources, they can only report on their costs.
